Chapter 6 Addendum: Abhishek's Frozen Treats

Abhishek Veda climbed out of the cot, memories coming back to him quickly of the last few hours. He had died, and was brought back by a demon far older than anything he had ever imagined could exist--if what Seth claimed was true. He thought back to the redheaded girl and her claims about the ship being alive, and how the ship would mess with someone's head. That could very easily be the reason what caused the suicidal maniac who fell out of the ventilation shaft onto a grenade to lose his mind in the first place. The rest of what happened--Abhishek shivered. He almost hoped it was the ship that was messing with him, and that he truly did not make a deal with a demon.

Abhishek groaned as he sat up, looking around for any staff. He remembered dosing himself with painkillers to reach the medical facilities, but had probably been dehydrated at the very least, and possibly had considerable blood loss even though his wounds had been healed. He paused as he searched his belt and refastened his armor, noticing a scorched smell to all of his gear. Parts of the cloth was missing, burned away to show the dark, metallic armor beneath. So the girl's pet android-flamethrower had been real enough.

He stood and began to walk out of the facilities, thinking how best to approach his situation. The demon had been very specific with some part of the deal, and Abhishek was loathe to go against its wishes directly. He would not kill the girl, but she would pay in the long run. He chuckled, eyes flashing and tail swishing rapidly as he moved. Oh she would certainly pay.

Abhishek frowned to himself as he walked slowly, checking his supplies. The redheaded lynx-like girl had not taken any of his gear. Frankly, that surprised him considerably. The girl had gone from planning to steal his goods, drugging him, and sending him to his death to keep her hands clean to actually pulling the trigger herself, and leaving his gear behind. He shook his head and sighed. She might have a bit of a backbone, but if ammo was as scarce as it was she would have been better off taking his gear.

Instead of heading directly out of the medical bay, Abhishek turned right, curious to see where it led. Maybe he could snag some pills or anything useful. Or some food. The dehydrated food sticks he carried in his belt were a little on the blackened and crispy side now. There was a familiar, subtle scent in the air as he went down the corridor, tickling at his memory. The temperature dropped the further he went, and by the time he found the cryostasis units, he had already realized what it is.

A few standard years ago he had salvaged a small transport ship. It had collided with something and was floating dead in space, and even though the hull had been breached and crew killed, those in the cryostasis chambers were still alive. He remembered that with a grin. Profits from that haul had been remarkable. The foodstuffs sold well, but the real profit was the slaves.

All but two girls he kept for himself. He probably could have made double for just those two that he had earned from the rest combined.

Abhishek Veda cursed under his breath. The memory was bittersweet now that those two were gone forever. He should have just retired at that point. He had been rich enough, but he was too damn greedy. That, and he was unable to stay in one spot for very long. His anger flared and the air around him grew noticeably colder. He looked down at his feet as he heard a quiet crackling. Small crystals of ice had formed around the base of his boots. The sight squelched his anger immediately, for his scanner showed the temperature to be a good deal above freezing point. As soon as the cold flame of rage was forgotten within his mind the ice at his feet disappeared.

Well, that was certainly interesting, he thought.

Mathias Wolf  Proceeding to find out exactly what is going on,  colt and mathias encounters a salvager
Mathias Wolf  "excuse me"
Mathias Wolf  a briefly pausing, flynn turns and replies
Mathias Wolf  "can you tell us exactly what has been happening here?"
Mathias Wolf  asked mathias

Peppermint Alloy turned into the corridor and she yelped with her gun pointed instantly at the man, or creature before her. Instantly she knew he wasn't human from the horns but otherwise, she was at a lose for who exactly this was. After that blood by the medical bay however she was ready to shoot anything that moved. "Who are you and don't try anything funny because I am about ready to blow this place up...." She didn't have a clue if r threat was useful but she'd be damned if she didn't make it.

Abhishek Veda was interrupted from his thoughts by a man and a woman entering the cryo hall. Both were armed, and Abhishek was in no mood for any sort of dramatics. He turned and headed to the exit, intent on finding the mess hall again, debating on risking a stiff drink even though Ingkeu had warned him about that. He nodded and grunted at the two, keeping a hand hovering near one of his P99 pistols just in case they attempted to restrain him.

Abhishek Veda stopped as the woman came into view, gun drawn. He snarled softly to himself. At this rate he was going to have to start shooting first and asking questions later. "Put it away, and get out of the way," he said simply, hand quivering with repressed anger just above his weapon. A thin layer of ice began to form at his feet, and the temperature of the room fell by a few degrees.

"I'm not looking for trouble," he said. "But if you are then I'm afraid you've found it," he said in a calm, relaxed manner, giving his best smouldering grin to the woman.

Mathias Wolf  "answer the question" as mathias readys his weapon.
Mathias Wolf  did you or did you not spill the blood of the people there in the infermary?"

Peppermint Alloy blinked several times. Thankful that her cybernetic suit adjusted quickly to her surroundings, she barely felt the chill when it hit. THe electirc design on her shoulders ped up and indicated clearly to anyone watching that it was doing it's job - one of many. Those the fabric was skin tight just from the highly visible detail that was on the suit it was way more than meets the eye. Still, the effect that the ice at his feet was enough to let her know that this guy wasn't human for sure unless he practiced magic or something - ha ha. Yeah fucking right. Her gun leveled with his head, wondering if she could get a clear shot at it before something happened. "I'm not looking for trouble, I saw blood over by that medical..area....and I wa making sure trouble didn't find me. And do the same to me as whoever that person who befell their fate did..." She started to back away, not lowering her weapon but her voice hadn't been as violent - clear she was willing to talk. For now.

Abhishek Veda laughed and shook his head, keeping his eyes wide open and fixed on the pair. "I have not killed anyone. My business is my own. I would suggest a more polite greeting in the future, for you never know who has a friend hidden around a corner." He paused and glared at the man in particular. "That's a big gun. Useful for killing things at long range. A pistol would do you more good."

He turned to the woman and nodded his head. "Relax and ease off," he said, angling his body slightly so his right hip faced towards the pair, right hand hovering over his pistol. The ice at his feet creaked and cracked, quiet, but noticeable sounds in the hall. His left hand rested calmly on his belt, ready to pry a grenade free should he need to. "Now if you would excuse me, I have a luncheon to attend," he grinned again. They would know there was no luncheon of course--that would be ridiculous here he imagined, but the obvious attempt at humor coupled with the admission of not being out for blood ought to be enough to save his skin. He hoped.

Anir Xyli opening the doors from deep within the cryo chamber she walks into the room holding herself to try to guard from the chill. Taking a few steps passed the doors she slows her hurried pace as she sees the three beings in front of her. Not wanting to snake her way back through the vents she politely nods as she starts to make her way past them. Suddenly stopping in her tracks and cursing her bad eyesight under her breath as she realizes, a bit too late, this was a hostile situation. She slowly brings her right hand to her thigh where her holster awaited as she quietly began backing away.

Peppermint Alloy was fast. No, she was unnaturally fast for someone who appeared and smelled as human as she. With one hand already possessing a gun the other moved rapidly to draw and aim the other, her back instantly turning to the wall so that she was covered from all sides well humanly possible. The second gun of course was directed to the newly arrived girl. Her augmented eyes shifted in her skull, going to a more in-depth analysis mode and looking to see just about every detail available to the obvious eye. "This one of your friends, ice man," she said obviously to the guy who'd frosted the room. She was a great aim,  ten for ten each hand and no recoil drawbacks that were to strong to hurt her. One move to fast, this place would be lit up. How strange was it that someone had shown up out of the blue right after he said that. Looked like a threat now more than escape. Too bad too, she was just about to let him leave. Not it looked like ambush. Until the woman started backing up. Peppers eyes narrowed while she waited for their move.

Abhishek Veda sighed as the woman drew a second gun and trained it on the girl who happened to arrive behind the bold pair. He snorted, frustration and anger welling up within him as the situation grew more complicated. A simple search for medical supplies and food had turned into a royal mess in the span of a few minutes.

"Looks like we've got an old-fashioned Mexican stand-off," he quipped, unable to resist the line. "Except we ain't got no Mexicans." His ship had been well-stocked with old media and movies he'd salvaged from various wrecks. It was unlikely anyone would pick up on that though, so saying something like that was simply for his own amusement. "Truth now," he continued in a more serious tone. "I'd be perfectly glad to turn and walk away. I was looking for supplies--maybe some food--and this place brought back memories. Memories which made me linger longer than I should have," he was speaking the truth, and utterly vexed at himself for letting his guard down long enough that these two could pull on him. If he had not been still exhausted from recent trauma things might have start off differently.

"As for the girl back there--no clue who that is or what she wants," he gave a slight shrug as he spoke. "Looks like she doesn't want to be here in the middle of this either. How about we call it a draw and go on our way." This was likely the last time he would suggest something like this. If they did not back down then he would be forced to action.

Peppermint Alloy paused, having been listening intently on the guy's words. In fact, she was listening to everything around her intently, as well as watching it. Suddenly the hand pointed to the guy, or creature, dropped. "If you've been standing her for five minutes trying to explain yourself and haven't attacked me...I think I can trust that you weren't the guy who spilled blood in the medical area.." She spared him a nod before darting her gaze back to the female with her gun in that hand only lowering not resting at her side in case either of them tried anything funny at least one hand would be ready to fire instantly. She aimed the gun at a move off angle to let the female know she was safe as long as she didn't move to suddenly. "You too, hun, I ain't gonna bite you. I just wanna make sure that I ain't got no kinda trouble trying to each me or my partner's face off...You know how it is..." She doubted they did but didn't correct herself. "Never know if you have to give a kitchenette asswhopping," she said in reply to the Mexican stand off earlier.  It was something she'd read of in a book followed by a similar line to the one she said about the ass whooping in detailed description so she thought she'd go with it.

[15:49:15]  Mathias Wolf  -mathias aims the rifle at the humanoid barely believing the words hey says. mathias looks at the arm of his target and sees that his arm is covered in blood. he refuses to make any assumptions just yet. "if you say you are doing exactly what you are doing, then why are you stained with blood?"

Flynn (flynn.kingsley): (( Uh... since when am I stained with blood? ))
Mathiaswolf: ((idk you could have killed a feral beast that was after you))
Mathiaswolf: ((lol)
Flynn (flynn.kingsley): (( I did no such thing, nor have I implied anything of the sort. ))

Anir Xyli grimacing as she gains the attention of the group in front of her She stops her backward movement as not to agitate the three especially the woman even though she seems to have relaxed a bit. Whatever issue the group was having her entrance had made it a million times worse. Still keeping her hand close to her holster eyes darting to each being and around the room for a way out or at least some cover if she needed it. She calmly responds to the group "look I've been in the vents all day and I assure you I have no prior knowledge of this situation." she shivers a bit the cold sinking in fast seeing as she didn't have much to cover up with. "All I want is to get out of the cold" she says with a half chuckle in an attempt to break the tension even as she herself remained tense.

Abhishek Veda quirked an eyebrow as the girl lowered her weapon, but the man she was with aimed his ridiculously large rifle at Abhishek and spouted off some kind of nonsense. He gave the girl a half-grin as she replied, pleased to hear at least one of them had a sense of humor. "Best have your eyes checked, my overly-equipped friend," he said wryly to the man. "There is not a drop of blood on me, and I am certainly not stained with blood. Do your friend a favor and don't get her involved in a firefight, and try to find an optician on this hellhole of a ship."

He nodded to the girl in the back almost as though he was apologizing for the entire situation though he felt considerably confident he was not to blame. "I find myself enjoying the cold here," he said casually. "But I fear I've lingered long enough."

Without so much as another word, he turned and strode to the exit, not even sparing a glance behind him, trusting the man was not so foolish to fire upon him for absolutely no reason within sight of others.

Peppermint Alloy took the time to holster her UZI, the one that was aimed to the man and drop her other hand completely. A sign she wasn't about to start fighting unless the pair which was split up did. She wasn't apologizing in her mannerisms though, she was fully confident that had something been wrong, she would have been able to fight them off and that was all she cared about really. She looked at the girl while she explained herself and nodded slow like, "I understand....Move along, I don't intend to hurt you in any form. But be weary...I saw blood back the way both of you are going....If looked fresh so be on your wits ends about this." With that the enhanced woman motioned for Mathais to follow her, "Stand down, Corporal."

Anir Xyli getting a bit desperate for warmth she shifts in place as two heart beats begin to thud faster and just hard enough for those with a superior sense of hearing would be able to detect. It goes on for a few seconds more before going back to normal as she herself looks a bit more at ease not sure how many more times she could do that before she will be forced to find warmth. Nodding in understanding to the exiting man she responds to the armed pair "I get it its an... interesting ship, do what you have to do, but id rater not die of frost sooo if you don't mind" she slowly points to the door behind them as it holds back its beaconing warmth " Ill even keep my hands up for you" she says with a bit of a smirk putting her hands high in the air as she slowly makes her way forward. Getting closer to them she nods keeping her hands in the air to keep the situation calm "Thanks for the warning ill keep my eyes open.

Mathias Wolf  shoulders his rifle and turns his back to the door and sighs in both relief and discontent but finds a moment of laughter "you know i don't get paid enough for an eye exam. heh."

Abhishek Veda picked up his pace as soon as he went through the cryo-sleep door, leaving the eerie room behind. He wondered what the hell people on this ship were used to if they came in guns blazing--perhaps Ingkeu had been right about everything. That was the second time in as many days he had someone point a gun at him. Next time--well, there would be no next time if he could manage it.

As he winded his way through corridors, avoiding people as best as he can, he began to think of how to plot his revenge.

Peppermint Alloy turned from the departed male and departing girl and gave them little to no thought afterwards. Whatever happened to them, happened. If they crossed paths again - which in the back of her mind she was sure that she would- she would deal with it then. "Let's move out," she commanded as lightly as possible after havin been so agitated which was about as soft as a cat in labor and about as welcoming. She kept a grip on her gun, wondering exactly what the fuck was up with the blood and what creature or beast had causes it sense no man would have done that, right? "Let's get out of the cold."
